Youth Sexlessness: Porn and Relationships in a Dying World

Israeli Professor Sam Vaknin traces the disturbing trends in sexless relationships today. Men and women are increasingly avoiding each other in real life even if they pursue frissons and fantasies online. Vaknin’s talk cites reams of recent research. It’s just over an hour long, but well worth the time investment.

Vaknin masterfully weaves together the evidence of the costs of moving sexual expression online (and making it entirely visual). A dystopian future has already become the present for a majority of young people.

He sees no sign that the trend of sexlessness is reversing. On the contrary, the evidence points to a seismic shift in sex and relationships.

He laments the fact that most young people never taste the “oneness” that intimate sex can offer. Perhaps re-learning the importance and mechanics of attachment would furnish a sound starting point for today’s sex education. It would be a better option than ending up sexless.
